Artist Statement –
Not often do I find calmness in Soviet architecture. It’s inspiring in its own way, but to me, it brings a certain sweet melancholy. In my work, I try to avoid that feeling because Soviet architecture lacks beauty—it was designed with pure function in mind, cramming as many people as possible into a limited space, which is horrible. But in Folded Oddness, you can see that even purely functional things can hold a grain of beauty—if you’re sharp-sighted enough to find it.
